Safari adventures in the Selous Game Reserve are best from late June to October. This represents the dry season and wildlife are easier to spot since the vegetation is typically thinner and the animals will usually gather at the available water sources in the park.

Naturally, the best time to visit the Selous Game Reserve is during the dry season (June to October). January to February may also be a good time

Safari high season in the Selous Game Reserve is the dry season (June and October). Being in the southern circuit, however, the park may not necessarily be crowded compared to its northern circuit counterparts
LOW SEASON
Selous Game Reserve is already a less-traveled park, so the addition of heavy rains makes the months March through May quite the low season
ABOUT SELOUS
A vast 48,000 sq km wilderness nestled at the heart of southern Tanzania, Selous Game Reserve is Africa’s largest wildlife reserve and it is home to large herds of elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, hippos, wild dogs, many bird species, and Tanzania’s last remaining rhinos.
The Rufiji River cuts a path past woodlands, grasslands, and stands of Borassus palm, providing unparalleled water-based wildlife watching. Although large areas of the south are zoned as hunting concessions, only the section of the reserve north from the Rufiji river is open for tourism. However, the wealth of Selous wildlife remains magnificent and its stunning reserve scenery rarely fails to impress.
