BEST TIME TO GO

The best time for safari in Saadani is after the rains, from June to August and between January and February. There is usually abundant water on the plains so the animals tend to stay within the park.

BEST WEATHER

The best weather for a safari in Saadani is when there is little to no rainfall, which is during the dry season (June to October)

WORST WEATHER

The peak of the rainy season (March to May) is not the best period to be outdoors, plus the roads tend to get all muddied up and unpassable in some areas

BEST TIME

The best time to visit Saadani for safari is after the rains from June to October and between January and Mid-February

HIGH SEASON

Saadani’s high season falls between June and October. However, since the park is not quite as popular compared to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, it might not necessarily be packed with visitors during this period

LOW SEASON

The rainy season usually sees the lowest number of visitors in the park as it’s much harder to spot wildlife

ABOUT SAADANI

Saadani National Park covers an area of 1062 km sq and was officially gazetted in 2005 from a game reserve that had existed since 1969. The only wildlife sanctuary in Tanzania bordering the sea, the park consists of three distinctive environments: the plains near the coast, swamp with undulating hills behind, and the Wami River along the park’s southern boundary.

Wildlife in Saadani has improved remarkably over the years and you are sure to spot four out of the Big 5, as well as waterbucks, blue wildebeests, bohor reedbuck, dik-diks, yellow baboons, vervet monkeys, blue monkeys, mongooses, genets, porcupines, and so much more.
