Tarangire is most alive during the dry season as this is the period when all nearby wildlife flock to the Tarangire River, which is the only source of water for miles in the area.

Clear skies and gentle winds are the best weather for safaris. This is usually during the dry season which runs from June to October

WORST WEATHER

Constant short showers and a couple of thunderstorms make it pretty much impossible to have a good time outside. This is usually during the rainy season which runs from March through April

The best time to visit Tarangire for safari is from June to October as there are plentiful wildlife roaming the park

Tarangire’s high season falls between June and October, which coincides with the dry season. The park will usually have lots of visitors during this period

The wet months of March and April typically see the lowest number of visitors in Tarangire

ABOUT TARANGIRE

Nestled in Tanzania’s Manyara Region, Tarangire National Park covers an area of approximately 2,850 sq km and its landscape is composed of granitic ridges, river valleys, and swamps. Its name originates from the Tarangire River that crosses the park and is the primary source of freshwater for animals in the region during the dry season.

Well renowned for its high density of elephants and baobab trees, visitors to the park during the dry season can expect to spot large herds of thousands of wildebeest, zebra, and Cape buffalo. Waterbucks, dik-dik, giraffe, impala, eland, vervet monkeys, olive baboons, and much more are common resident animals that can be found here. Predators include lion, leopard, cheetah, honey badgers, and African wild dogs.
